Prague,
Czech Republic
Prague, the heart of Europe and the city of a hundred spires, represents a unique collection of historical monuments dominated by Prague Castle, which towers high above the city. It is a display of all artistic styles and movements.
The historical core is situated on the banks of the Vltava River and consists of six parts—formerly independent urban units unified in 1784 (with Vyšehrad joining later in 1883). These are Staré Město (Old Town), including Josefov (the well-preserved former Jewish Town), Nové Město (New Town), Malá Strana (Lesser Town), Hradčany, and Vyšehrad.
Much of the city has remained unchanged since medieval times, featuring stunning examples of Romanesque rotundas, Gothic cathedrals, Baroque and Renaissance palaces, Art Nouveau, Classicist, Cubist, and Functionalist houses, and modern buildings.
Weather
As summer comes to an end, the city gets a little quieter. In fact, September is possibly the best time to visit Prague.
The weather in Prague in September is absolutely delightful. The days are still warm and sunny, with an average temperature of around 20°C (68°F). As the evenings can get a bit cooler it’s a good idea to pack some layers. You might also experience some light rain showers, but they usually don’t last long and won’t put a damper on your visit.
Culinary
Prague’s cuisine is rooted in Central European traditions influenced by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is based on meats—especially pork—savory creamy sauces, and various types of dumplings.
The 'queen' of Czech cuisine is Svíčková: beef tenderloin in a creamy vegetable sauce made from carrots, celeriac, and parsley root, served with bread dumplings, cranberry compote, and a dollop of whipped cream. The national dish, however, is Vepřo knedlo zelo: roasted pork served with bread or potato dumplings and sauerkraut.
Another staple is Czech goulash, a thick beef or pork stew seasoned with paprika; unlike the Hungarian version, it is thicker and always served with bread dumplings. In local pubs, you will often find Pečené koleno—a massive, slow-roasted pork knuckle marinated in dark beer and herbs, typically served with horseradish, mustard, and pickles. Smažený řízek (breaded and fried pork or chicken cutlets) is also popular, usually accompanied by potato salad.
For soup lovers, there is Kulajda, a creamy potato soup flavored with fresh dill, mushrooms, and a poached egg, or Česnečka, a potent garlic broth served with croutons and melted cheese, locally famous as a hangover cure.
Vegetarians often opt for Smažák—a slab of breaded and fried Edam or Hermelín cheese served with tartar sauce. For a quick snack or celebration, locals enjoy Chlebíčky, traditional open-faced sandwiches with various toppings like ham, egg, and potato salad.
To satisfy a sweet taste, try Koláče, small round yeast-dough pastries filled with poppy seeds, sweet cottage cheese (tvaroh), or plum jam, or Ovocné knedlíky, large dumplings filled with strawberries, apricots, or plums."

GRAND HOTEL INTERNATIONAL PRAGUE
The Grand Hotel International Prague is an architectural time capsule and a recognized Czech Cultural Monument.
The Grand Hotel International Prague is an architectural time capsule and a recognized Czech Cultural Monument. Built between 1951 and 1956, this 88-meter landmark is Prague’s premier example of Stalinist architecture (Socialist Realism), originally designed as a high-security, luxury military headquarters for visiting Soviet generals before opening as a public grand hotel in 1957. While the exterior mirrors Moscow's famous skyscrapers, the meticulously preserved interior showcases a blend of mid-century Czech craftsmanship, Art Deco flair, and hidden historical details—such as an American flag subtly woven into the lobby's grand tapestry by a defiant artist.
Enjoy your stay at a venue where modern four-star comfort meets a chapter of Cold War history. Experience a refined stay featuring fully air-conditioned accommodations, curated culinary offerings, and a commitment to exceptional service in one of Europe’s most storied cities.

Conference Excursion
Konopiště
Konopiště is an impressive castle situated in the picturesque Czech countryside on the outskirts of Prague. Dating back to the 13th century, it was originally constructed as a Gothic fortification inspired by the style of a French chateau. During the 17th century, portions of the castle were remodeled in the Renaissance style, followed by further Baroque alterations in the 18th century. As Konopiště is surrounded by vast, magnificent forests, hunting remained a favored pursuit of the resident nobility throughout its history. This excursion will leave you with a profound and lasting impression of the prestige and power wielded by the historical elite of Central Europe.
TUESDAY OPTIONAL OUTINGS
DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES FOR DIFFERENT TASTES
Spouse / Partner Tours
Tour of Jewish Quarter & Old Town
The Jewish Quarter (Josefov) in Prague is located between Old Town Square and the Vltava River.
While there is evidence for early 10th century settlement of the area, the turbulent history of the former Jewish Ghetto began in the 13th century, when Jewish people were ordered to vacate their disparate homes and settle in this one part of town.
Over the centuries, with Jews banned from living elsewhere in Prague, and with new arrivals expelled from Moravia, Germany, Austria and Spain joining them, ever more people crowded into the quarter.
In the 20th century, the Jewish Quarter buildings even survived Nazi occupation, because Adolf Hitler intended to preserve the area as a “Museum of an Extinct Race”. To this end, the Nazis plundered Jewish artifacts from other occupied territories in Central Europe and brought them to Prague to form part of the museum.
Today, the Jewish Quarter buildings remain a testimony to the history of the Jewish people in Prague and form the best preserved complex of historical Jewish monuments in Europe.
The most significant historical monuments are under the control of the Jewish Museum in Prague and the Old-New Synagogue. Together, these are called the Jewish Town Monuments.
The Jewish Quarter is also the birthplace of the celebrated Jewish novelist Franz Kafka, who is commemorated with a statue on Dusni Street.
Prague Castle & Glassworks Experience
The largest castle complex not only in the Czech Republic, but anywhere in the world, forms part of Prague’s distinctive skyline. Stroll through the castle courtyards, see the Old Royal Palace, explore the Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslas and Adalbert, visit Saint George’s Basilica, and wander down the picturesque Golden Lane.
Then, experience a fascinating story of glass.
On a single spot in the heart of Prague you can discover glass in many of its forms. You can observe a unique collection of glass sculptures made by czech and foreign artists. You will feel the heat from a fully functional glassworks, where the masters of glass craft will show you their art.
You will try blowing your own piece of glass and other glassmaking techniques and finally, you will refresh yourself with a beer specifically made for glassworkers drawn in original glasses.
Prague Zoo
Prague Zoological Garden was opened in 1931 with the goal to "advance the study of zoology, protect wildlife, and educate the public" in the district of Troja in the north of Prague.
In 2013, the zoo occupied 58 hectares (140 acres) with 50 hectares (120 acres) in use for exhibits, and housed around 5,000 animals from 676 species, including 132 species listed as threatened.
The zoo is rated as the seventh best zoo in the world by Forbes Travel Guide in 2007, and is rated as the fifth best in the world by TripAdvisor.
The zoo has contributed significantly to saving Przewalski's horse; for many years, it was the leading breeder of the subspecies and these horses are transported to the Mongolian steppes.
Prague Gardens
The Royal Garden is historically the most valuable of all the Castle gardens.
Founded in 1534 by Ferdinand I. Habsburg, it was inspired by Italian designs; the current form of the garden, however, follows the English adaptation of the 19th century.
One of its greatest treasures is the Singing Fountain, one of the most beautiful fountains in Renaissance Europe. The southern gardens (Paradise, Ramparts and Hartig Gardens) spreading along the southern facade of the Prague Castle offer striking views of the Lesser Town, Old Town and nearby Petřín.
